Alex Wicks, Colorado Field Artist
The Colorado landscape is both subject and studio for Alex.
Working primarily in watercolor, Alex creates paintings inspired by the mountains, rivers, forests, and wildlife of the American West. Many of his landscapes are painted on location, often from trails, riverbanks, and mountain overlooks across Colorado. His Timberline Series extends that connection to place by pairing watercolor with natural wood surfaces, allowing the character of the material to become part of the final work.
Through his paintings, Alex hopes to capture the sense of wonder, adventure, and quiet beauty found in the outdoors.
He lives and works in Erie, Colorado with his wife and two children.
